2007 "9-1-1"Food Drive raises over 500lbs of donations
The 2007 Village Ambulance Service "9-1-1" Food Drive, sponsored in conjunction with the Williamstown Food Pantry, has raised over 400 lbs of non-perishable food items, an increase of 100lbs from last years endeavor. The drive, which ran between November 21st and December 20th, not only garnered provisional aid for families throughout the Northern Berkshire area, but offered a true sense of enlightenment to those who contributed to the endeavor.
According to Cara Miller, Office Manager for the ambulance service and who assisted with the task of packaging and preparing the goods for recipient pickup, "I believe a cause like this is something each family, including children, should get involved with. It certainly makes you realize there is a lot more to life than sweating the small stuff."
Many of her colleagues couldn't agree more. So much, Village Ambulance Service has decided to embark on a year round food drive with hopes of tackling the ever increasing hunger epidemic in our community.
